Beth Taylor, a member of staff based in our Ruthin Office conquered the London Marathon 2017 on the 1st of May, all in the name of a (very) good cause.
The London Marathon is a long-distance running event which has dated back to 1981, and is a household name when it comes to feats of endurance – as well as being part of the World Marathon Majors. Spanning the River Thames, this largely flat course is a daunting 26 miles and 385 yards long and stretches from Greenwich to Westminster, with a number of interesting landmarks along the way such as the London Eye, Big Ben, and also Buckingham Palace.
The London Marathon is very well known and respected for the amount of charitable donations it facilitates from participants, as well as those who support them. Beth ran the London Marathon in aid of Tŷ Gobaith, who provide care and support to life-limited children, young people, and also their families. It’s a wonderful cause – Tŷ Gobaith has been providing care and support to children and their families from the North Wales area since 2004, and is sensitive to the needs of the local population – many of which speak Welsh as a first language.
Beth raised £2000 for Tŷ Gobaith during the London Marathon, £250 of which donated by Swayne Johnson Solicitors.
We couldn’t be prouder of her for her amazing achievement. No doubt, the sum raised through her dedication and her hard work will allow Tŷ Gobaith to care for and support so many children, young people, and families.
Beth had this to say about her completion of the 2017 London Marathon:
“It is certainly an experience of a lifetime.
The atmosphere is electrifying and the crowds of spectators are all along the 26.2 miles on both sides singing, dancing, cheering, and offering you sweets, food, drinks and entertainment. It’s quite surreal. It wasn’t anything like I imagined, there is so much to take in along the way and you experience so many different emotions along the way.
You certainly find out a lot about yourself during it. Thank you to everyone who purchased a raffle ticket and for your donations, encouragement and support, it has been quite overwhelming.”
All at Swayne Johnson Solicitors, from all of our offices, would like to congratulate Beth on this fantastic achievement. Well done from all of us!
